Fenway Park Mural!!!! GO SOX!!!!!

Hello Everyone,

It has been awhile since I have been on my blog. A lot is happening, school is starting to wrap up for the summer and I have been painting up a storm.. busy, busy, busy!!!  I had the pleasure of painting my favorite ball park in the whole world and that is Fenway Park. I had re-connected with my childhood best friend on Face Book. She had seen some of my murals and asked me if I would like to try a shot at Fenway Park for her son's room. Of course I jumped at the chance! It was so much fun to paint and hang out with Maura and her family!! I loved showing up to her house in the morning and hearing her 1 1/2 yr. old Lyla saying "Hi Kim!" she has the sweetest voice! Melt my heart!!! Tonight when I was finishing the mural, Kasef and his big sister Eva were on the bed asking me questions. Kasef made a few more suggestions that he wanted players and Wally the Green Monster! He was so cute!!! I told him that he was going to be at bat for the Red Sox so I would need to paint those wretched Yankee's on his wall. He said that would be okay!! After, I finished and got home I opened a thank you card from Maura. She told me that this mural has always been a dream of hers since Kasef was a baby. It means so much to me that I could be the one to paint it for her! It is funny how life comes full circle sometimes and the reason for it is always full of meaning!!

Baby to be......

I had the pleasure of painting a nursery last friday for a couple living in South Boston. This is to be their first baby. The mom to be had fallen in love with a nursery she had seen in Pottery Barn Kids Catalog. Her hope was that I would be able to replicate the Mural for them. The nursery is going to act as both a guest room and the baby's room. The mural is very simple and I think just adds enough interest to the room for baby and guests to enjoy. It was a lot of fun for me to do, it was a beautiful day and I could hear the sounds of the city as I painted. We had a lunch break together and talked about everything baby! Being a mom of four I certainly could give her many of my experiences and..... If I knew then what I know now advice!! I look so forward to photographing the room when all the furniture and bedding comes and sharing it with you and most importantly meeting their beautiful new baby!!

Ah! Spring at last!!

They say spring is a time for rebirth. Through the winter I did a lot of soul searching and I discovered that what happened to me was that I finally broke ground. I can see the light, I can feel the sun and I am beginning to bloom.
Last weekend I attended a Kick Boxing event to raise money for Breast Cancer. My girlfriend was one of the competitors. She had been training for weeks as well as working full time and she is a mother of two. She managed to balance it beautifully. My girlfriends and I were so excited for the night to come. I designed "Team Cally" tank tops for my friends and I to wear but the night took on a deeper meaning as I watched the fight.  I have a new respect for my friend as I watched her in the ring. Her opponent took every opportunity to punch her in the face and kick her in the hips and ribs etc. This opponent was a seasoned fighter and this was my girlfriends first fight. She fought the entire fight with all heart. She was so brave. I could not get over the irony of the situation. Like women who are battling Breast cancer they feel every pain, every blow it gives them but they never give up. They find their inner strength. The fight ended in a split decision and the judges awarded the other girl the title of Champion. I think my girlfriend walked out of that ring with a feeling of rebirth and empowerment!! I think we all felt it as women!! I realized that I am so proud to be a women!! We are so strong!! That to me is worth more than any title!

I have lots of projects coming up in the next few weeks and months. This spring I feel empowered to balance it all! To be successful at what I do and to make life come to life for the people I love!! :-)

Happy Spring!!

New England Patriots Mural

Hello! As you can see I have been busy painting!! My twin boys asked me if they could have a Patriots bedroom when we moved into our new house. We moved in at the end of December and the boys have been sleeping with flowered wallpaper since then. That was due largely to the fact that they were giving me a hard time going to sleep at night and I told them I would leave the flowered wallpaper up until they behaved! Well, they once again wore me down as I really wanted to do this mural. I thought it would be a nice surprise if I finished it in time for Super Bowl Sunday!! I added an inspirational quote by Joe Paterno he was the head coach for Penn State football. Hopefully this will help inspire them as they grow!! My next project is a series of canvas paintings for this adorable little girl named Morgan and her brother Owen's play room. Stay tuned...........

Peace 4 Haiti

I wanted to do something for the children of Haiti and I wanted to create a way for our children to show their support. I decided to create a t-shirt to raise money to be sent to Save The Children.org. Save the children is the leading independent organization that creates lasting change for  children in need in the U.S.A and around the world. As it has done in recent disasters in Haiti,  Save The Children is preparing to provide immediate lifesaving assistance such as food, water, shelter and child friendly spaces. This t-shirt was a huge hit with my 9 year old daughter and her friends. Look for them on my Etsy page, www.myartfulhand.Etsy.com  I am going to post them to be sold as soon as I finish one for the boys.

Hockey and Haiti

I just finished a painting for a friend of mine that I went to high school with. He is a huge hockey fan and he is passing this tradition on to his sons and even his daughter. His wife says he is building a hockey training center in his basement as we speak. I decided to do the locker theme again only this time I did four lockers. One has the great Ray Bourque's shirt in it, the next locker has Pete's high school shirt and number and then his two sons who I decided to give them Team USA shirts with their current hockey numbers. I added the famous hockey quote by an unknown author " Hockey players have hockey in their hearts and ice in their veins"  The painting was for their son Owen but Pete's passion for the game and his willingness and commitment to pass that along to his children made me want to incorporate him and a bit of history into the painting. I am excited to see what Pete thinks of the painting. That is what truly inspires me!!! I am also working on some children's t-shirts that say Peace for Haiti. The proceeds will go to a charity that benifit the Haitian Children. I want our children to show compassion and support to the Children of Haiti that have been devastated by this horrific natural disaster. Stay tuned............

I am finally getting the kids and I settled into our new home!! I will say that I have learned something new about myself, I am very handy and I am a horrible painter!! I know I can paint murals and canvas paintings but when it comes to painting a room.... UGH!!!! Paint everywhere.. I miss spots... paint on the trim... it is a mess!! LOL!!!! I did however install a chandelier in my daughters room!!! YES!!! I can now add electrician to my resume!!! hahahahaha!!! Or you can say I know how to follow directions. I am having so much fun being creative with our new home!! I just finished my daughters room. I will post pictures soon, she went from a little girls room to a tween bedroom. Yes, mom's out there it can be done tastfully!! You just need some imagination and pick your battles!! Caroline picked the colors and I picked the accessories!! It really pulled together nicely. My twin boys want a Patriots Football room, they are still sleeping with flowered wallpaper on the walls and I told them until they can listen to me better the paper stays on!!! hahahahahaha for some reason I thought that would work in the first week, nope we are on week 3 now!!! Wallpaper still up!!! They will eventually wear me down as I am chomping at the bit to do their room. Lastly there is Drew my youngest, he wants a Spiderman room...... I am still brainstorming. Anyway, keep checking back for photo's!!!! They will be coming soon!!! Hope your New year is getting off to a great start!!! :-)

Hello World

I just spent a day with a very lively and fashion forward 16 year old from Sweden named Malin. My best friend and I took her shopping to the hot teen stores here in the U.S. Her favorite store was Forever 21!! Anyway, Malin was showing me her Blog page, I was so impressed at how she expressed herself through her web page. It was her personality oozing out of the computer screen. When we returned home from the mall she immediately took pictures of all the clothes she bought and instantly it was posted on her page. I am sure that her friends were excited and a little bit envious of the new fashions she scored here in the states!! Her page inspired me to start my own blog. I am not sure what my page will become .... I would love to share with you when I get a new client and how we come up with great ideas for custom Artwork for their children's bedrooms, playroom etc. I hope our ideas inspire you and you get just as excited to see the finished product as we do!! I am sure I will blog about other stuff as well and hopefully my personality and life's adventures will intrigue you enough to keep visiting me time and again!!
